Ito The Start

Ito was started a little over a year ago to express my visions of art through fashion. My influence has always been the Japanese concept of “Shibui”. Wikipedia defines Shibui as follows:
Shibui (渋い) (adjective), shibumi (渋み) (noun), or shibusa (渋さ) (noun) are Japanese words which refer to a particular aesthetic of simple, subtle, and unobtrusive beauty.[1] Like other Japanese aesthetics terms, such as iki and wabi-sabi, shibui can apply to a wide variety of subjects, not just art or fashion.[2]
Shibusa is an enriched, subdued appearance or experience of intrinsically fine quality with economy of form, line, and effort, producing a timeless tranquility. Shibusa includes the following essential qualities:
Shibui objects appear to be simple overall but they include subtle details, such as textures, that balance simplicity with complexity.
This balance of simplicity and complexity ensures that one does not tire of a shibui object but constantly finds new meanings and enriched beauty that cause its aesthetic value to grow over the years.[3]
Shibusa walks a fine line between contrasting aesthetic concepts such as elegant and rough or spontaneous and restrained.[4]
The colors of shibusa are "muddy" colors.[2] For example, in interior decorating and painting, gray is added to primary colors to create a silvery effect that ties the different colors together into a coordinated scheme. Depending upon how much gray is added, shibui colors range from pastels to dark. Occasionally, a patch of brighter color is added as a highlight.
I always wanted to be a more traditional artist who expressed there visions by painting or sculpting, but as much as I tried I am unfortunately not gifted to paint, draw or sculpt. However I have always been able to conceptualize my visions in 3 dimensional forms and can picture in my minds eye how it should be constructed.
I am starting this blog as I am always asked about what is my process, also my personal thoughts about fashion. I would love to teach fashion to others as an art, to become artist. To be as creative and imaginative as they can. Be the 2% who chose to do fashion as an art form. Like Yohji Yamamoto, Rei Kawakubo (Comme Des Garcon) and Issye Miyaki to name a few of my personal heros.
